No National League club has ever won three World Series in a row. The only teams to lose three straight World Series are the Detroit Tigers in 1907–1909 and the New York Giants in 1911–1913. The Chicago Cubs have the longest World Series championship drought in history, with no titles between 1908 and 2016. (108 years).
The last team to win three in a row was the Texas Rangers from 2010-2012. They beat the Boston Red Sox in seven games in the ALCS and then defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in five in the World Series.
The New York Yankees are the most successful team in this category with a record of 4-1. In fact, they’re the only four-time World Series champion who has not been beaten by their own series.
In addition, the Yankees are also the only team to have won three consecutive World Series titles. They accomplished this feat in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
The most recent team to lose three in a row was the 2011 Baltimore Orioles. They were defeated by the World Series champion San Francisco Giants in five games.
Overall, both leagues have had nine teams that have lost three in a row: the 1906 Chicago White Sox, the 1907 Detroit Tigers, the 1968 Los Angeles Dodgers, the 1969 Boston Public Schools, the 1970 San Diego Padres, the 1975 Cleveland Indians, the 1976 Pittsburgh Pirates, and the 2009 Atlanta Braves.
It’s been more than a century, but there are two teams who have lost three World Series in a row. From 1907 through 1909, the Detroit Tigers were the first.
